Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder

This book received a negative response from all three community reviewers but only because it was "rather dry," "stilted," "pedantic," "simplistic," and "dull." It is a synopsis of the history of philosophy in novel form. One reviewer says, "I did not read every page. My time is too valuable to waste on this dull tome."

Be sure to read C.S. Lewis’ The Abolition of Man about literary criticism.
