Thank you, school board, for hearing our appeal.
We are here this evening to request that you remove seven titles from the adopted list of texts
used in our high school language arts curriculum.

It has been a year since we first began reviewing books from that list, and it has been seven months since we took our first step in the district’s process for requesting you to reconsider the use of instructional material. None of the other steps that came before could have resulted in the removal of these books - because we are talking about adopted textbooks - not library materials or reading list materials. I can’t tell you how glad we are to finally be presenting our appeal to you; the only body of people who have the authority to make a ruling on our request.
