Introduction

A number of the sources are yet to be verified and this data should be used as a guideline only.   There is still much work going on researching the 1700 Virginia records.  Some of the questions for example are: did John Crook really live 98 years or are we talking about two Johns;  did John Jr. really marry two women named Lee or are they the same person.  While we have learned a lot in the past thirty years,  and much credit goes to those early researchers, who put us on the right trail, with the best information available at the time.  Because we have learned more since then, and can fill in some of the gaps, and correct some of the assumptions, does not diminish the importance of the earlier works.  We just stand on the shoulders of giants.

At this point, I have put far more emphasis on getting the source documents ready than I have on the family tree.  If you have anything you would like to see added, please send me a copy.

Among the Crook Family researchers, this John Crook and his descendents are known as Family Group I.
