Note: Burgess is the "P" line from the Gaither Connection.
There are several stories on how Forrest Gaither got to Texas. One has them following Daniel Claiborne Thomas, who they knew from North Carolina, to Texas. The other has the group moving there. In 1836 the family moved to Marengo, GA and then to Fayette Co., Texas in 1840. They moved to Lee Co., Texas in 1873. Lamira moved to Falls Co., Texas and died there in 1880. The family disowned Jane when she and her husband joined the Mormon Church. However, when Jane and Claib moved to Nauvoo to join his brothers before moving to Utah, Forrest outfited them.
Carlos died in the Mexican war and one of the other children owned a ranch that latter became Chilton, Texas when the railroad came through.
