L'Amour, Louis
Louis L'Amour died some time ago but he had written enough material that new stories are still being published. How do you tell if you find a L'Amour book interesting. In my case, I need 1, 2, or 3 nights to finish it. A 1-night book would be considered ***** and you subtract 1 * for each night that I need to read it. The story isn't bad but just that I didn't find it that interesting.
I recently started reading the stories about the Sackett's. Here are hill people that are straight forward but really nasty when you threaten them. I am a mark when it comes to reading about some one being threatened by people of power but turning the table and ending up on top.
Compton, Ralph
Compton has a series called "The XXX Trail" and I have read most of them. They are tales about a trail to some place and the hardships that people encountered on the trails.
Johnstone, William W.
Johnstone has a formula that lawyers and etc. have ruined society. All of his stories carry that theme. Some are about a gunfighter he calls the "Last Mountain Man". Justice and a pair of Colt .45 pistols will prevail.
