Ok, our first task is to find in the Everquest directory, the file that contains your social buttons. For me, that file is Slithz_65.ini. Make a copy of this *.ini someplace safe, you may wish to go back to it, if we screw this up too bad. I created a folder in my Everquest directory named Backup, and stuck it in there.
Now we have to Launch the Character Map program, as so:
Then Open your *.ini file in Notepad, and scroll down to near the bottom where the social keys are.
Your screen should now look something like this:
Note the Font, when I did this, was only successful in copying characters from the Arial font. Do not know if this because Arial is the default system font, or because Arial just happens to be the first one alphabetically, or both.
Find a cutesy character that you would like inserted into your social button, and double click it to add
it to the Characters to copy box. Press the Copy button, and it will be copied to the Windows clipboard. Then go to your
*.ini file and click where you want the character to be inserted, and then Paste (Control-V or use Paste
option from Edit pulldown menu) it into your social button, as shown.
Note, that you are inserting a windows character into a text document, so you will not be shown the cutesy graphic yet... should see some character inserted though
Make more insertions as necessary, then Save (using the Save As option) the *.ini file as a text document with UTF-8 encoding, as shown:
If you are doing this while in Everquest:Windowed mode you will have to zone, in order for socials buttons to be reloaded, to test your changes.
