Early Life
My
grandfather, Paul Motohiko Ozaki, was born on July 15, 1925 in Chula
Vista, CA. His parents, Harry Kumahiko Ozaki and Kumae Tamaki, were
Japanese aliens. That didn't seem very significant at the time, but
it would eventually prove to be important.
My grandfather farmed with his parents on rented land that was
rented by a white friend because Japanese aliens couldn't rent land.
In his family, there were 5 boys and 1 girl. The children in order
from oldest to youngest are: Art, Howard, Ed, Paul, (my grandfather)
Helen, and Gene. The children were all born in the United States,
making them U.S. citizens.
