I am reminded of a quote: "It's only a hobby, only a hobby, only a . . ."

Does anyone out there know how to run a really good writer's workshop? I'm trying to start one here in my area, and I keep running into all sorts of problems. I just want a casual weekly get-together that will give me and my friends a place to have our works read, as well as provide motivation on a continual basis.

Just wondering if anyone reading this has ever run this type of thing, and if they have any advice for me. :)
