He sold property Rowan County, North Carolina, September 23, 1808.(30) John sold 123 acres on the waters of Lick Creek to Richard Cox of Iredell for £60. The land was next to the Robert Noblett, Hardy Davis and Leonard Eller. The deed was witnessed by John Marshall, Sr. and William Cox.

He sold property Rowan County, North Carolina, October 29, 1808.(31) John sold 440 acres on Lick Creek that he had purchased from Michael Ritter to Richard Cox for £200. The land was next to Hardy Davis and Richard Noblett. The deed was witnessed by John Marshal, Sr., John Ball and Henry Stewart.

He migrated from Rowan County, North Carolina to White County, Tennessee in about 1808. He served on a jury in White County, Tennessee, May 13, 1811. He bought property in White County, Tennessee, January 15, 1812.(32) John purchased 50 acres on Falling Waters of Caney Fork from William R. Cole and Solomon Cox for $200. He served on a jury in White County, Tennessee, October 24, 1817. John was a plaintiff in a court case in White County, Tennessee, January 19, 1818.
