Welcome to the home page of GViz '96 The Graphics and
Visualization Conference
Thursday, April 18, 1996
Richland,
Washington
Jan. 15, 1996 - The organizing committee for GViz '96 has decided to
postpone the GViz conference. A new date will probably be set for Spring
1997.
A number of factors came into play to make this difficult decision.
Prominently among those factors is the uncertainty of support due to
cutbacks at Hanford. The Tri-Cities ACM Siggraph is considering a scaled
back symposium during the Spring of '96 instead. Check back for further
information, or e-mail me to be notified.

About the Conference
GViz '96 is a follow up to the successful GViz '94. It is scheduled for
April 18, 1996 at the Tower Inn in Richland, Washington. We are very
pleased to announce that
Tom
Furness of the Human Interface Technology Lab at the University of
Washington will be the keynote speaker. In addition to the technical
papers and vendor show, we are working on developing a computer art show
and a SIG-KIDS program for young people.
The main focus of the GViz '96 is to promote understanding of the latest in computer technology as it relates to graphics and visualization. The technical paper sessions provide a forum for the presentation of current research and application development
in the area of computer graphics. Some areas that may be covered are
Geographic Information Systems, Graphical User Interfaces, Multi-Media,
Finite Element Analysis, Scientific Visualization and Immersive Virtual
Reality Environments. The vendor show provides exposure to the latest
products and technology availaiable in these fields. GViz '96 is sponsored by the Tri-Cities Washington ACM-SIGGRAPH professional chapter.
Profits from GViz '96 will be used to create a Computer Science
scholarship at the Tri-Cities Branch of Washington State University or at
Columbia Basin College.
